From what my Drs are saying and through some research it seems I am well and truly in the 'high risk" section of progressing quickly to MM. My Drs are telling me that it will happen within 2 yrs. I am really considering early treatment but still do not fully understand the risks of doing this. I am having to have 8 weekly tests and then see my oncologist so will have to make a decision soon I think. Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but ...Hi Natalie,

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but glad that you discovered it before it hurt you!

Myeloma is very different for different people. I know people who are still enjoying life after 18 years, and of course I know people who lived only a short time. My own myeloma has been called "low risk," because it progresses slowly, and I'm at almost 8 years & still running marathons. A lot of people are in that category. You will know a lot more when the genetics are complete. I hope you are as lucky as I have been.

Meantime, I encourage you to discover the International Myeloma Foundation. They have an excellent hot line and can give you a straight answwer to lamost any question.

If you happen to live in Minnesota, I encourage you to visit Minnesota Myeloma, which has links to may other resources.Donhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03923592545983795350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7107951278396437262.post-21721265781086756662011-03-07T14:50:27.190-06:002011-03-07T14:50:27.190-06:00Just recd the dx of smoldering myleoma.. mid range...Just recd the dx of smoldering myleoma.. mid range l0% still waiting for the "genetic" aspects of the bone marrow biopsy. Should have this by next friday 3/l8. Full bone scan was negative for lesions and the urinalysis was incomplete. With all this I am totally scared about the progression of this..I have absolutely 0 symptoms. I scared & don't know what I can do. Dr. said that I will need close monitoring thru blood tests. What can you tell me & what is my life expectancy. I am 67 yrs old (female,Caucasion)Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15990471884336419325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7107951278396437262.post-89212361884558101052009-08-15T21:36:32.202-05:002009-08-15T21:36:32.202-05:00Hi Don,

I'm struggling with MGUS and rising FLC levels.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11642892661246865793noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7107951278396437262.post-64071123200346023342007-10-22T13:20:00.000-05:002007-10-22T13:20:00.000-05:00I have often wondered why great healthy food rarel...I have often wondered why great healthy food rarely looks as tantalizing and enticing as the unhealthy stuff. On that note
sugar is now considered as or more addictive than heroin. Good luck on breaking the addiction to quick carbs and sugar in particular.

I have found the ChampionJuicer.com to be my favorite counter top appliance. It is the easiest and best smoothies machine I have ever used. (I by no means have performed an exhaustive test of available merchandise). A handful of nuts, those fine fruits (fresh or frozen) and just about anything else I'm so inclined to add is pureed easily. I tend to mostly puree and reserve "juicing" for special occasions as I feel the fiber is an important part of my diet. BTW, Curcumin dissolves nicely in nut butter. I belong to a UnitedBuyingClubs.com local co-op from which I buy a large portion of my organic nuts, grains and the likes.

May your whole foods quest find you happy healthy, full and with tantalized taste buds.L.P.
